How Synology camera compatibility works
Compatibility is tied to Surveillance Station and its Device Pack, not to one specific NAS model. NAS hardware still determines bundled camera licenses and practical channel capacity.

Bandwidth & storage calculator
Estimate the network throughput and storage your camera lineup needs, then check which current models below already include enough licenses to cover it. Bitrate figures are rule-of-thumb industry estimates (resolution × frame rate × codec), not a specific camera's published number — actual bitrate varies by scene complexity and your camera's own quality settings, so treat this as a starting point, not a guarantee.
Storage figures assume every camera records continuously (the "continuous" row) or at a rough ~20% duty cycle typical of motion-triggered recording (the "motion-triggered" row) — your actual footage depends on how much activity the cameras see. License counts in the table are what each model ships with out of the box; per-model maximum license ceilings aren't reliably published in a structured format anywhere we've found, so verify that number on the vendor's own spec page before buying for a large install.
NAS license & capacity reference
Every camera above works with any of these once Surveillance Station is updated to its required Device Pack. The real buying decision is how many licenses you need and whether the CPU can handle your stream count. Table below follows the Current/Legacy tab above.
