JoshBytes runs two linked reference tools: a database of IP cameras that are compatible with Synology and QNAP NAS surveillance software, and a database of Synology and QNAP NAS models themselves with their specs and support status. Both are built and maintained by one person, not a company or editorial staff.
Synology and QNAP each publish their own camera compatibility lists, but those lists are hard to search, don't show current pricing, and don't tell you which cameras are still sold new versus discontinued. This site pulls that same underlying compatibility data into a searchable, filterable format, and adds real-time marketplace pricing and mined spec details on top of it.
This site is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated on behalf of Synology Inc., QNAP Systems, Amazon, or eBay. Compatibility data is sourced from each vendor's own published support lists (see Methodology), but the site itself, its buying guidance, and its editorial notes are independently produced.
